Just read today that British Researchers have found a formula that will help us to increase our life expectancy. Seems so simple too, just keep the size of your waist to less than half the size of your height, so for me at 69.5 inches tall, to avoid health related problems like heart disease and diabetes, I need to keep my waist line to under 34.75 inches. Seems very simple.
As most of us have come to realise, the BMI (Body Mass Index) isn’t the best method for everyone in calculating how good a shape our bodies are in.
With so many sites out there with the ideal BMI (which varies from site to site) it’s hard for people to know if they are in the right ball park. Most athletes and people who work out a lot are likely to be on the high end of their BMI ideal weight, however be in top physical condition, where as another individual could have the same BMI but be in bad shape with possible impending health problems on their way!
This new formula could be a great way for people to keep a responsible track of their own health and make the necessary adjustments to their diets and lifestyle before it gets too late and they’ve gone down the path leading to heart disease and diabetes.
With the western diet spiraling out of control, kids with obesity issues from very young ages, adults who just can’t or don’t know how to look after their health properly, we need to simplify things to make people realise that it is their own responsibility to ensure their own health and the health of their children and it’s never too late to start!
I bet you’re all looking for your measuring tape after this!
