When it comes to travelling, we tend to choose accommodation that is economical, be it an Airbnb apartment or a great hotel deal we’ve seen online. This isn’t because we’re penny pinchers, but simply due to the fact that we want to stay in places longer, and if you’re accommodation isn’t draining your bank account, it makes things much easier. We also don’t spend a lot of time indoors, so spending a fortune on a place to stay seems unnecessary.
But let’s just say that it’s a special occasion or perhaps a “bucket list” dream…
If money were no object and I could stay anywhere I wanted in the Eternal City that is Rome, then these would be my top 5 hotels.
The Pantheon Iconic Rome Hotel, Autograph Collection
As the name suggest, the location of this hotel is fabulous, making sight seeing very easy. The rooms have beautiful details based around the ancient Pantheon, with stunning marble finishes and oculus details that are just magnificent. I’m a sucker for a gorgeous bathroom and this hotel does not disappoint. Topped off with an amazing rooftop terrace to enjoy a glass or two of wine with views that will melt your heart.
From the second you see the beautiful entrance, you’ll be in love. A short stroll from Piazza Navona, this hotel has a taste of everything, with a variety of rooms to suit any guest. There are suites that are set in a more traditional style, bursting with elegance and Italian chic, or if you happen to prefer a more modern feel, then you may opt for one of the rooms or suites designed by the architect Richard Meier that are just stunning. (The bathrooms, ah, the bathrooms… perfetto). The Hotel Raphael also boasts a wonderful Roof Terrace with mesmerising views over Rome.
Oh be still my beating heart, these boutique suites are located on the famous Piazza Navona where you can wake up to see the city coming alive! Featuring bespoke suites, many with terraces overlooking the piazza, all the rooms are beautifully designed and the location is perfect for those who love Rome, giving you the option of walking to all the main sights. This is an adult only hotel, which is ideal for those looking to get away from it all and just relax.
If you want to feel like royalty, this place is a must. The hotel, which was once a palace, is now the perfect place to indulge your inner aristocrat, its elegant and opulent style is prominent throughout. From the beautiful rooms to the hotel’s amazing restaurant the Mirabelle, which has the most epic views over Rome, you’ll feel like a King and Queen in no time.
I couldn’t do this list without adding on the Hassler Roma. We have walked past this hotel countless times during our visits to Roma and it’s firmly on the wish list. Set at the top of the Spanish steps with enviable panoramic views over the city. It also a 3 restaurants, one of which is the Michelin-star restaurant Imàgo, the ideal place for the foodies out there!
