10 Of The Best At Home Work Outs For When You Are Short On Time

Health & Fitness / Friday, March 13th, 2020

I think many of us start the day with great intentions, we know we want to get a little fitter, maybe build up our cardio a bit so we can stop sounding like a wheezing steam train after climbing just a few floors of stairs! But time is precious, and gyms can be an expensive outgoing that perhaps can’t be budgeted for, or maybe you just don’t feel confident to don your extravagant pair of LuluLemons and hit the treadmill!

Whatever your reason for putting things off, I can tell you now that it has never been easier to get a work out done at home, no equipment, and in some cases just a yoga mat’s worth of space and you can be working towards getting fit and flexible today!

I have tried and tested these workouts and only recommend those which I felt have made a real difference. Your workout can be anything from 5 minutes upwards, so depending on how long you have spare on an evening (or first thing in the morning) you can tailor a regime that is perfectly suited to you and what you need.

So let’s get started, just click the headers to take you to the workouts and I hope you find something here that gets you moving today!

Dana Landgren

Now I follow Dana on Instagram where she posts all of her workouts, these are incredible to do and I found my cardio improving within a couple of weeks and things starting to tighten up. I started off with just a couple of rounds and built it up and then combined different sets to create a longer and varied workout, but you feel the burn with Dana! You can do as many sets as you want, so your workout can be anything from 5 minutes and up!

These are perfect for beginners and people getting back into fitness.

If you don’t have instagram, you can find her Killer Home Cardio on Youtube

Oh how I love Sadie’s work outs, they get the blood pumping and this particular workout is just 11 minutes and you feel fantastic afterwards! Find your inner warrior and get ready to move!

Five Parks Yoga – 35 Min Complete Vinyasa Flow Yoga Class

I do this Vinyasa flow often, it’s one of my favourites and can easily be slipped in a couple of times a week to work on your flexibility. Erin is great at talking you through the moves and if you like this workout she has hundreds on her YouTube channel you can try out!

Les Mills – 30 Minute Bodycombat Invincible

You’ll need a little more than a Yoga mat worth of space for this and preferably no downstairs neighbours, but if you are already pretty fit and just want something to blow those cobwebs away, then this is ideal! Not for the faint hearted as it works you really hard! If you’ve had a stressful day at work, then release all those frustrations with this high octane class.

Popsugar Fitness 5-Minute Leg Workout

Don’t let this short video fool you, you’re gonna feel this in the morning (or day after in my case) and what’s 5 minutes, you can do anything in 5 minutes!!

Blogilates Special Full Length 1 Hour POP Pilates Class!

The longest class on this list, but a great workout for abs and core strength. I actually use a lot of these moves for my personal practice, they are straight forward and there are “easy” options for people who are just starting out.

Cassey has lots of little classes on her YouTube Channel that you can merge together for a longer workout, so if you like to work a particular area, arms, abs, legs then you can tailor a half hour set that you love to do a few times a week.

Bowflex The Six Minute HIIT and Abs Workout

I found this while I was travelling and loved it, no hassle and just 6 minutes, easy to fit in while I was waiting on the pasta cooking, or just before I’d have a shower. Give it a go, you’ll love it! (Disclaimer – I can’t do a burpee to save myself so I just step back rather than jump). They also have an Eight Minute At Home Abs Workout that really works the core!

Tracy Anderson’s 10 Minute Workout

Trainer to the stars, I first saw a Tracy Anderson Workout on Tracee Ellis Ross’ instagram when she was doing some of the moves in a hotel gym while travelling. The moves looked a little unorthodox compared to all the other workouts I’ve done, but I loved the variety. I was knackered the first time, it looks a lot easier that it actually is.

I’m a massive fan of P90x and I’ve done the workouts for about 8 years now and still enjoy them. This 10 minute burst is just what you need to get in a full body work out. Don’t be too intimidated if you’re just getting into your fitness journey, adjust where you need to, but enjoy it, it’s a lot of fun!!
