Vegan in Paphos

It used to be, not that long ago in fact, when we had to make do with a village salad minus the feta cheese, or spend a week or two eating veggie burgers in order to dine out with friends and family in Paphos. But oh how things have changed! Paphos has now become quite the vegan friendly holiday destination, with many restaurants and cafes carrying at least one vegan dish on their menu. Now I’m not saying that they are all brilliant, but I like that they have started to at least offer options. I thought I’d give a […]

Vegan in Rome, it’s much easier than you think!

It seems like all of a sudden, Rome is a Mecca for vegans. Not only do the supermarkets carry some fantastic vegan friendly ranges, but restaurants are catching on too with vegan specific menus that have a great selection, not just a garden salad like some places we will not mention! It doesn’t seem that long ago, only 3 or 4 years really, that we were resigned to having slices of pizza pomodoro for dinner while we were in Rome. Now there is absolutely nothing wrong with that, the pizza is delicious, but after about 10 slices during a break […]

Feeding Frenzy in Surfers Paradise – Food shopping and dining out.

We were told by lots of people that Australia would be expensive and that we would spend most of our budget on food/drink, but we’re a slightly different kind of traveller. We always stay in apartments with a kitchen so we hit the supermarkets like Coles or Woolworths and for the vast majority of the time, we eat in. Of course we love dressing up and going out, but spending a huge chunk of money every night on a restaurant dinner just isn’t my idea of a fun. Our apartment in Surfer’s Paradise was just a 10 minute walk to […]

Simple Homemade Mushroom & Lentil Pie

I don’t often cook with pastry but when I think of homemade comfort foods, a cheeky puff pastry pie is usually high on the list. Normally there would be a jug of gravy too but the filling in the pie is really moist and juicy that we didn’t really need it, but by all means, you make a batch of gravy up if you like a little extra sauce with your dinner, team it up with some roast potatoes and fresh veggies and you’ve got yourself a nice Sunday dinner there. I’ve decided that while we’re back visiting the family […]

Winter Vegetable & Kidney Bean Stew topped with Rosemary & Thyme Chickpea Dumplings

Oh it’s been a while since I posted, I’m getting withdrawal symptoms. But, I have still been cooking away in the kitchen and this is the first time I’ve had to sit down and do a little post. We’re getting ready for the in-laws arriving next week so I’ve been out and about getting a few new bits for the house and of course we had our visit to the new mall in town which was fabulous, when I say fabulous I mean absolutely fabulous. There is one particular shop that I know I’m going to become a regular in, […]

Orange & Cranberry Scones, perfect for afternoon tea.

I think I may have slightly overdone it at the gym today, I stared off with a Sh’Bam class then took myself off for a solo half hour on the spin bike, then decided that I should try out the Zuzana Light workout that I saw on facebook yesterday and now I think I’m broken! I was doing fabulously well, felt great after the workout and now, well, now my legs have taken on a personality of their own and are not at all happy with me! But it was great and I feel great too. I was doing all […]
