Recently my niece took me to one of those old style toy shops that had all the great games I had as a child, Etch A Sketch, Hungry Hippos, Kerplunk etc, I was left feeling suitable nostalgic!
While we were having a nosey around the store, there was a great section on crafts and Yasmin (my fabulously design conscious niece) spotted a great little friendship bracelet kit. At a fiver it would have been rude not to have got it and as soon as we got home, she opened it and started to make her first bracelet. It was quite ingenious really, it had 2 foam wheels with a guide to tell you how many colour threads to use and in what order to wrap them to make certain patterns like love hearts, flowers, zig zag and so on.
Obviously as we girls are prone to do, she started with the love heart pattern in black and pink and was giddy when after about 10 minutes the love heart pattern in started to appear. I’ve never seen her so focussed.
Just been having a look at some more ideas for her to try out and came across this great idea on p.s.-Imadethis for using household items like nuts and rings from key chains etc, she can raid her grandad’s tool box for some inspiration (and also get him to do the “burning” part”!) and hey presto some designer inspired friendship bracelets to adorn her wrists!
