Vegan in Rome, it’s much easier than you think!

It seems like all of a sudden, Rome is a Mecca for vegans. Not only do the supermarkets carry some fantastic vegan friendly ranges, but restaurants are catching on too with vegan specific menus that have a great selection, not just a garden salad like some places we will not mention! It doesn’t seem that long ago, only 3 or 4 years really, that we were resigned to having slices of pizza pomodoro for dinner while we were in Rome. Now there is absolutely nothing wrong with that, the pizza is delicious, but after about 10 slices during a break […]

Chickpea, Mushroom & Olive Bakes served with Spicy Sweet Potato Fries and Fresh Homemade Avocado Salsa

Yesterday I bought myself a box of semolina, this was purely for nostalgic purposes as I used to have semolina pudding and canned peaches as a treat with my grandad when I was younger. I am always amazed to hear that people don’t like semolina and can’t believe I haven’t had any in about 15 years! I was pleasantly surprised with these beans, they have a very unique flavour to them which I can’t quite put into words, I want to say earthy but that doesn’t really give you the right impression. Let’s […]

Portobello Mushroom & Sun Dried Tomato Burgers

These, I think, are by far my favourite burgers I’ve ever made!! It may well be the addition of the beautiful sun dried tomatoes I bought the other day, they gave an incredible depth of flavour to the burgers, so much so I was distressed when we’d eaten them all, I need some more… NOW. I’m definitely going to be making these again, they would even go lovely the next again day with some pasta and home made marinara sauce! The photos don’t do the burgers justice, but believe me, these are a “must make”, they are slightly soft on […]
