DIY Fashion for Beginners

I am now trawling through the internet looking for fabulous (easy) ways to start my adventures in DIY Fashion.  As the weather is heating up here, it’s hard to look at anything that’s warm, but I have to remember that I am going to be back in the UK in the summer so need some special items for meeting up with the girls. So I’m narrowing it down to key pieces that I can accessories with (saves on the packing, I’m all about travelling light).

I found this fantastic tutorial for making a scarf kilt, minimal kit required and will look great with tights and boots and as a beginner in DIY Fashion, it’s a great introduction (not too intimidating!). For the full tutorial please see DIY Scarf Kilt. It’s so versatile, I could team it with my black skinny rib sweater, or a shirt tucked in with some simple jewellery, get my boots out if it’s colder, or wear it with tights and some shoe boots.

Not only is it clothes I want to try, but also accessories, and I found this great tutorial for a gorgeous bib necklace, (DIY Bib Necklace) that could be just the project I need to kick start my own little collection. It’s all so exciting, I’ve never really given much thought to doing anything like this, but now I have some spare time, I really want to make this most of it and create something that I can be proud of!

So, hopefully (fingers crossed) I’ll be posting some of my own redesigns and DIY fashions in the next few weeks. Just need to build up a decent kit so I have the materials to play with, there isn’t much in the way of haberdashery where I live, but I’ve seen a few places a bit further out, so need to make a special trip out!!
