Springtime Hiking in Spoleto

So, it’s just before 8 in the morning, the sky is blue, the birds are singing, the dogs are barking and the Italian countryside awaits us. I don my trusty pink starburst yoga pants and my all weather jacket and we hit the road for our trek of the holiday the Giro dei condotti. I’m freezing! The sky may be blue, but after 5 minutes outside, so is my face! The joys of Spring I suppose. No matter, after walking uphill at a vigorous pace I soon begin to heat up and with the sun steadily climbing the temperature starts […]

Taking on the mighty Swinica

“There is no fun without risk” That’s the exact words that came from a fellow hiker on his descent from Swinica summit. We were just coming up to the section where the via ferrata chains began and this guy came flying down the steep slope with a big smile on his face and came to a skidding halt a few inches from the edge of a drop, spoke his words of wisdom then just carried on! Having already had my success in getting to the top of Giewont and breaking the notion that I was afraid of heights, I was […]

Fight the fear by mountain climbing in Zakopane

Truth be told I had been stressing and worrying about our trip to Zakopane. After Martin told me we would be mountaineering and taking on the High Tatra Mountains I got straight onto google to read up about it… not such a great idea to be honest. Image after image showed dizzying views and terrifying looking ascents with chains and footholds, with my sporadic bouts of vertigo I genuinely wrote off any idea of taking on the mountain trails unless they were tranquil and 90 year old grannies could do it! Looking at Instagram pictures and google images of summits […]

Zumba in Edinburgh

How to spend a Saturday morning in Edinburgh, mmmm let me think, usually I’d have a nice long lie in, then maybe head to Princes Street for some shopping, a leisurely lunch and let the day unfold. Well, during my trip to home this summer I decided to change it up a bit. I woke up feeling all excited and looking forward to my very first Zumba class. The sun was shining, yes even in Scotland the sun does shine on occasion, I donned by gym gear put on my MP3 and hit the road for the walk up to […]

Why we choose a Plant-Based Lifestyle.

A friend of mine wrote yesterday that she wouldn’t be able to go vegan (plant-based) because she loves steak and bacon too much… and it got me thinking, when we were meat eaters we never had a steak on it’s own or bacon without some sauce, the idea of eating a plain old steak would never have crossed my mind. My favourite restaurant dish was the Tournedos Rossini, a steak sat on a lump of brioche smothered in pate and a Madeira sauce. Now, thinking about it, it was more the flavours of the sauce that I liked above all else, so […]

Are you addicted to your decongestant spray? What you need to do next!

For many, this post may seem ridiculous, but there are so many people out there who, following a cold or blocked nose, have become dependent on their decongestant spray, for me it was Sinex. It was only after I’d been using the spray for over almost a year and needed to use the spray every other hour (I know, it states quite clearly on the box how to take it, it was my own silly fault that I became dependent on using it) I realised I had a bit of a problem, but being busy at work I just kept […]
