Vegan Dining in York, amazing menu where we can have everything on it!

It can at times be a little frustrating that the rest of the world hasn’t quite caught up with the fact that there are more and more vegans who want to dine out or even just join their friends in going for a coffee on an afternoon. So I was stunned, yes stunned, to find that when we popped into Starbucks in York for a soy frappuccino, that there was absolutely nothing on the menu (foodwise) that we could have.  I am not counting the soy porridge pot, it wasn’t breakfast time! I thought with them giving customers the option […]

Afternoon Tea anyone? Beautiful Tartes aux Fruits served with Frappé, a must for your garden party or a summer afternoon with the girls.

We’ve been roaming around Britain this summer and have been to some glorious seaside locations and there seems to be an abundance of cafes and restaurants offering afternoon/cream teas. My nan absolutely loves this type of thing, she thinks it’s very Ms Marple, so we’re going to take her down to Bamburgh for the day and pay a visit to the Copper Kettle tea room.  I have emailed ahead as there isn’t really anything that’s vegan on the menu and the lovely lady has already emailed back asking what we can have and they will accommodate us,which I thought was […]

DIY Fashion, Old Tshirt Refashion, great project, takes 5 minutes, no sew, so easy tshirt to backless top

It was the colour of the tshirt contrasting with the red belt that caught my eye and then I realised how simple this old tshirt to backless top project was that it’s spurred me into action. I’m on holiday at the moment, but I do have my clear nail polish with me and my mother in law has proper seamstress scissors for me to use, so going to get into the attic (where all our old stuff is kept) and hunt out some old tshirts, so hoping to try out this tutorial and then probably also try out the old […]

Motivational Quote from Maya Angelou, great advice for life today!

I read Maya Angelou’s ‘I know why the caged bird sings’ last year after I had seen that Jillian Michaels had recommended her books.  It was a very emotional and heart rending read, from a brave, inspirational woman. I came across this quote today and it  made me stop and think “Yes, it’s exactly right”. It’s this statement that highlights why Martin and I adopted a clean vegan lifestyle, by reading more, watching informative documentaries and listening to what, I believe, everyone should be aware of, helped us to make a more informed decision on our dietary lifestyles and the […]

Homemade chocolate coconut bar – Clean, Vegan, Gluten Free and truly delicious!

It would seem that no matter how hard I try, there are always going to be times when I want something a little sweet and it is so hard to find anything that hasn’t been messed with or has added ingredients that I can’t pronounce, even in my poshest of voices! So I couldn’t pass up on the opportunity of sharing this fantastic recipe for almondjoys from chowvida for what I would call a “bounty” inspired chocolate bar (pictured above) but without any of the bad stuff. Take for instance the dark chocolate bounty bar which has: Sugar, Coconut Dried, Sugar Syrup, Cocoa, Cocoa Butter, Emulsifier(s) (Glycerol […]

DIY Fashion, Upcycle your old denim shirt to get a unique outfit this summer.

I just saw this on trashtocouture and had to add it to my inspiration for a refashion project (my “DIY Fashion to try” list is getting longer and longer every day!!), this looks super cute and pretty simple to try out. I have a few old bandana/square scarves that I don’t wear anymore but I still want to keep, so I’m thinking why not give this project a go, even better the stitching part looks straight forward as well, so ideal for a novice like me. I’m thinking that this would be a great project for my niece to try […]
